Role Overview

The Optometrist will conduct thorough eye examinations including vision testing, assessment of ocular health, and diagnostic screenings. Daily responsibilities encompass prescribing corrective lenses, advising on treatment options, and collaborating with other healthcare providers to manage eye diseases as necessary. Educating patients on eye care, lens use, and preventive strategies is integral, alongside keeping detailed clinical records adhering to professional guidelines. The Optometrist will partner closely with optical dispensers and support personnel to facilitate seamless patient care from examination through eyewear fitting. This position is full-time and requires on-site presence in Geelong.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Possession of a tertiary qualification in Optometry and current registration or eligibility to register with the relevant professional authority.
• Proven competence in conducting comprehensive eye exams, diagnosing ocular conditions, and prescribing lenses and treatments.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively convey clinical information and build rapport with a diverse patient demographic.
• Ability to operate cooperatively in a multidisciplinary team fostering an inclusive and respectful work environment.
• Meticulous attention to detail in clinical documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.
