Job Overview

Arete Wood Limited is urgently seeking a meticulous and knowledgeable Optimizer to join their production team based in Lagos, Nigeria. The role involves preparing precise cutting lists and optimizing raw board materials to ensure efficient production.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed cutting lists in line with customer orders and specifications.
• Design optimization schemes to enhance material yield while reducing waste.
• Ensure accuracy of edging and lipping details including type, color, thickness, and application needs.
• Confirm board types, dimensions, thickness, finish, and quantities against requirements.
• Prepare production jobs timely and accurately within given turnaround schedules.
• Generate correct labels and all necessary production documents supporting cutting and manufacturing processes.
• Track and log reusable offcuts for future job use to maximize resource efficiency.
• Analyze cutting and optimization data to discover improvements in material usage.
• Collaborate actively with Production, Warehouse, Sales, and other departments to ensure seamless workflow.
• Identify discrepancies or incomplete details prior to production commencement.
• Maintain thorough documentation, filing, and traceability of all cutting lists and production files.
• Adhere strictly to company production policies and quality standards.

Candidate Qualifications

• Possession of an HND or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Candidates with solid hands-on experience in furniture manufacturing, cutting list creation, and material optimization are welcome.
• Experience in woodworking, cabinetry, panel processing, or similar manufacturing fields is an added advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare cutting lists and optimize sheet materials such as MDF, plywood, or particleboard.
• Strong understanding of board dimensions, cutting layouts, edging, and production specs.
• Competence in interpreting technical drawings and customer specifications.
• Proficient usage of optimization, cutting-list software or CAD tools.
• Great attention to detail and numerical precision.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
• Capable of operating efficiently under pressure and meeting strict deadlines.
