Job Overview
The Optical Technician role involves catering to customer needs by suggesting appropriate eyewear products such as frames, lenses, contact lenses, and sunglasses. The position demands driving sales conversions through upselling and cross-selling and supporting overall store performance by meeting individual sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify customer requirements and propose suitable optical products.
- Promote sales through conversion, upselling, and executing promotional activities.
- Achieve personal sales goals and contribute to store success.
- Offer a professional and interactive experience throughout the customer journey.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve basic complaints efficiently.
- Develop customer loyalty and foster strong client relationships.
- Interpret prescriptions with precision.
- Assist in product selection, fitting, and adjustments.
- Support opticians with technical tasks as needed.
- Verify prescription details, fitting accuracy, and product specifications.
- Ensure products are defect-free and match customer orders exactly.
- Maintain zero-error delivery standards and proactively address issues before handing over products.
- Accurately execute sales transactions using POS systems.
- Facilitate insurance approval processes and complete necessary documentation.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate inventory and handle products correctly.
- Report any shortages, damages, or discrepancies promptly.
- Keep up-to-date with product knowledge across all optical categories.
- Collaborate with the team to meet store objectives.
- Support opticians and sales staff during busy periods.
- Contribute toward a positive and efficient workplace environment.
- Uphold professional ethics and safety standards.
- Perform other tasks relevant to the role as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong sales abilities combined with excellent customer service skills.
- Basic understanding of optical equipment and technical procedures.
- Familiarity with POS systems and insurance processes.
- Meticulous attention to detail with a focus on product quality.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team and perform under pressure.
Experience & Education
Candidates should have between zero to two years of experience in a relevant field. A bachelor's degree from a technical institute specializing in optics is required.
Languages & Certifications
- Fluent in both spoken and written English and Arabic.
- Possession of an SCFHS license or certification is mandatory.
