Position Summary

The Optical Fiber Technician role, based full-time in Doha, Qatar, involves the installation, splicing, termination, and testing of optical fiber cables across commercial and industrial settings. Daily tasks include inspecting and preparing cable pathways, conducting fiber optic measurements, diagnosing faults with testing devices, and carrying out maintenance and repair work. Accurate documentation of activities, configurations, and test outcomes is essential, alongside strict adherence to safety and quality protocols. Collaboration with project engineers and other field personnel is required to ensure projects are completed efficiently and network integrity is upheld.

Qualifications

• Experienced in handling cables and cabling systems, involving tasks such as pulling, routing, and securing cables within diverse environments.
• Skilled in fiber optics procedures including splicing, termination, and utilization of fiber optic tools and instruments.
• Strong aptitude in troubleshooting optical fiber networks and related infrastructure to identify and resolve problems.
• Familiarity with fiber testing techniques and equipment such as OTDR, power meters, and light sources, plus the ability to interpret results accurately.
• Understanding of industry standards, safety requirements, and best practices governing fiber installation and documentation.
• Capability to read and comprehend technical drawings, network schematics, and operational instructions.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills suitable for managing tasks under field conditions.
• Effective communicator able to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
• Possession of relevant technical certification or diploma in telecommunications, networking, or a related discipline is advantageous.
• Previous experience in optical fiber installation or maintenance within telecommunication or networking industries is considered a plus.
