Role Overview

The full-time Optical Assistant position requires working 4 to 5 days per week including Saturdays during business hours of 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, with no Sunday, bank holiday, or overtime hours. This role includes greeting clients, managing appointments, assisting in dispensing spectacles, sunglasses, and contact lenses, helping customers choose frames and lenses tailored to their prescriptions and style, as well as ensuring precise measurements and fitting. Maintaining product displays, supporting optometrists in clinical activities, handling basic administrative duties, and keeping the practice clean and organized are also key responsibilities.

Candidate Attributes and Requirements

• Residency in Dublin or nearby areas with a commute no longer than 45 minutes preferred
• Strong fashion sense and attention to style, given the emphasis on eyewear aesthetics
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster positive client relations and clearly convey product and appointment information
• Previous retail, healthcare, or optical experience advantageous, particularly in luxury or boutique settings
• Basic knowledge or willingness to learn about optical principles, including frame selection, lens options, measurements, and preliminary screening
• Ability to work full-time onsite, multitask effectively, and uphold high standards of precision and presentation
• Good organizational aptitude, reliability, and competency with scheduling and computer applications

Compensation and Benefits

The role offers a salary range of 40,000 to 43,000 euros annually, complemented by a substantial bonus contingent on the practice’s success. The package excludes Sunday and bank holiday duties, contributing to work-life balance.
