About Spark Arena
Spark Arena is Auckland's foremost 12,000-seat venue dedicated to sports and entertainment events. Operating under the Live Nation Group umbrella, it focuses on producing impactful and captivating events for diverse audiences.
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Operations Supervisor to coordinate behind-the-scenes activities, ensuring smooth functioning of the venue during live events. This role involves leading the setup and dismantle of event infrastructure while supervising a team of casual operations personnel, directly reporting to the Operations Coordinator.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the setup, operation, and disassembly of staging, seating, curtain systems, sports surfaces, and function areas for various events.
- Lead, direct, and support casual operations staff by clearly defining tasks, schedules, and deadlines.
- Manage maintenance routines and storage of arena equipment such as truss, curtain hardware, and portable signage.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety standards, conduct contractor inductions, and participate in emergency preparedness planning.
- Engage with promoters, production managers, and contractors to facilitate smooth load-in and load-out processes.
- Maintain flexibility to prioritize and rapidly resolve issues arising during live event operations.
- Assist in developing and updating standard operating procedures and technical documentation.
- Contribute as an active member of the arena's Rapid Response Team when needed.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities in managing and motivating casual labour teams.
- Understanding and ability to interpret technical drawings confidently.
- Practical experience with hand and power tools in a live event context.
- Excellent communication skills for effective liaison internally and externally.
- Prior experience in event operations or venue back-of-house roles is highly desirable.
- Knowledge and/or certification in Occupational Health and Safety practices; working at height certifications are advantageous.
- Computer skills suitable for scheduling and documentation purposes.
- Availability to work variable shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as necessitated by event schedules.
