About Zapp

Zapp is a premier convenience retail platform located in London, established in 2020. The company aims to revolutionize the convenience retail sector by leveraging advanced customer-focused technology and fulfillment solutions. Collaborating with top global brands, Zapp provides a curated selection of products available 24/7, delivered within minutes.

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive Operations Recruiter responsible for managing the entire recruitment cycle for frontline staff at our Fulfilment Centres. This role involves high-volume hiring in a dynamic environment, focusing on sourcing, evaluating, onboarding, and ensuring new hires are prepared for their first shift. The recruiter will be accountable for critical hiring metrics such as vacancy fulfillment, time-to-hire, candidate conversion rates, and hire quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment for frontline Operations roles across multiple Fulfilment Centres, from sourcing and screening to onboarding and first shift coordination.
  • Conduct high-volume recruitment to rapidly fill vacancies without sacrificing candidate quality.
  • Collaborate with Fulfilment Centre managers and Central Operations to translate staffing needs into effective hiring strategies.
  • Develop and maintain talent pipelines using job boards, referrals, direct sourcing, and local recruitment channels.
  • Oversee relationships with flexible staffing agencies, ensuring they meet volume, lead time, and quality targets.
  • Screen applicants, organize interviews, and facilitate communication throughout the recruitment process.
  • Plan, execute, and facilitate assessment centres, including briefing assessors, leading candidate debriefs, and making prompt hiring decisions.
  • Manage internal assessments for promotion roles such as Shift Supervisor along with external hiring.
  • Ensure timely offer coordination, pre-employment compliance checks, and candidate readiness for start dates.
  • Conduct thorough referencing by following up on non-responsive referees and validating evidence appropriately.
  • Lead onboarding sessions, delivering company policy and training plans, coordinating first shifts with site managers.
  • Maintain accurate and current data within the TeamTailor applicant tracking system.
  • Track and report recruitment KPIs, including vacancy rates, time-to-hire, conversion ratios, offer acceptance, and hire quality.
  • Leverage recruitment metrics, AI, and automation to optimize hiring workflows and resolve bottlenecks.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum three years of recruiting or talent acquisition experience, preferably in high-volume or frontline hiring environments such as retail, grocery, hospitality, logistics, or warehousing.
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to managing recruitment funnels and solving hiring challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, including creating compelling job advertisements.
  • Superior project management and organizational skills capable of handling multiple concurrent vacancies.
  • Knowledge of UK right-to-work regulations, including time-sensitive permissions like student visas, and sound judgment on acceptable documentation.
  • Practical experience organizing and conducting in-person assessment centres, onboarding days, referencing, and pre-employment checks.
  • Proficiency in managing applicant tracking systems such as TeamTailor and coordination with flexible staffing suppliers.
  • Hands-on experience working within Fulfilment Centres to gain operational insights.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary package.
  • Annual entitlement of 25 days holiday plus all public holidays.
  • Private health insurance coverage.
  • Zapp Credit for experiencing the service firsthand.
  • Lunch provided four days per week at headquarters.
  • Enhanced sick pay and maternity/paternity leave benefits.
  • Participation in the cycle-to-work scheme.
