Position Overview

We seek a seasoned Opcenter Solution Architect possessing over 8-10 years of hands-on experience with MES/MOM solutions, particularly in Siemens Opcenter. This role involves architecting comprehensive MES solutions, translating business needs into technically robust designs, overseeing implementation efforts, and liaising with clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and manage the full lifecycle of Siemens Opcenter MES solution architectures.
  • Drive architectural decisions, designs, and technical strategies across MES initiatives.
  • Analyze and comprehend manufacturing workflows, business demands, and digital transformation goals of customers.
  • Convert business requirements into scalable Opcenter solutions that align with customer objectives.
  • Draft solution, application, integration, and deployment architectures.
  • Lead workshops and architectural discussions engaging clients and internal teams.
  • Assess current manufacturing systems and recommend targeted MES implementations.
  • Define integration schemes linking Opcenter with ERP, PLM, SCADA, automation, IIoT, and related enterprise systems.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout all project phases from requirements to go-live.
  • Approve and review designs from implementation teams ensuring quality and standards adherence.
  • Set architectural standards, development protocols, and best practices for the team.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks, dependencies, and gaps.
  • Guide configuration, customization, and integration of Opcenter by development teams.
  • Assist in estimates, resource planning, and proposal development including RFP/RFI responses.
  • Participate in client presentations, solution demos, and technical workshops.
  • Lead technical dialogue during implementation, commissioning, go-live, and support phases.
  • Mentor consultants and engineers specializing in Opcenter technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with client standards covering security, performance, and industry practices.
  • Coordinate seamlessly between on-site and offshore teams for successful delivery.

Mandatory Skills and Experience

  • 8-10+ years in MES/MOM or digital manufacturing IT.
  • In-depth, practical expertise with Siemens Opcenter including architecture, modules, configuration, and deployment.
  • Experience in the following Opcenter components: Execution, APS, Quality, Intelligence, RD&L.
  • Strong knowledge of MES/MOM architectural principles and manufacturing operations.
  • Designing and implementing complex MES solutions within manufacturing setups.
  • Proficient in integrating MES with ERP and PLM solutions such as SAP, Teamcenter, SCADA, PLC, Historian, IIoT, and Quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with APIs, web services (REST/SOAP), XML/JSON, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Competence with SQL and relational database management.
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, security, scalability, availability, and disaster recovery considerations for MES solutions.

Manufacturing Domain Knowledge

  • Comprehensive grasp of manufacturing processes including production planning, orders, BOM, routing, material traceability, work instructions, WIP tracking, genealogy, serialization, quality management, non-conformance management, reporting, KPI tracking, equipment/resource management, data collection, and maintenance integration.
  • Experience in sectors such as Automotive, Aerospace, Industrial Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, Electronics is advantageous.

Solution Architecture Duties

  • Formulate future MES architecture aligned with client demands.
  • Create detailed architectural documentation (high and low level).
  • Specify application and system interface designs and data flow models.
  • Decide on Opcenter modules requiring standard configuration or customization.
  • Design deployment topologies for various environments (development, testing, production).
  • Ensure scalability, security, maintainability, and compliance with IT standards.
  • Identify technical feasibility and recommend architectural governance.

Client and Consulting Expertise

  • Experience collaborating directly with customers and stakeholders.
  • Skilled at facilitating discovery workshops converting requirements into technical solutions.
  • Effective communicator capable of simplifying complex technical concepts.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Leadership and Mentorship

  • Lead and supervise Opcenter implementation teams providing technical direction.
  • Review design and execution plans ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Support project planning including risk and estimation management.
  • Serve as the key technical escalation contact for intricate MES issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, IT, Engineering disciplines or related areas.
  • Siemens Opcenter certification or similar credentials viewed favorably.
  • Prior MES solution architect or technical architect experience, specifically with Siemens Opcenter.
  • Track record of delivering large-scale international MES transformation initiatives.
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams, including offshore collaboration.
