Online Chess Teacher / Instructor

Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Online Chess Instructor to teach students via remote sessions. This part-time or contract position requires delivering chess lessons to beginners and intermediate learners, guiding them through the fundamentals as well as advanced gameplay concepts.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate engaging online chess lessons focused on rules, tactics, strategic planning, openings, middle game, and endgame techniques.
• Create and organize well-structured lesson plans, exercises, chess puzzles, and practice matches.
• Monitor and evaluate individual student progress, providing consistent constructive feedback.
• Maintain a professional yet friendly and motivating virtual classroom atmosphere.
• Coordinate scheduling to fit student availability for optimal learning times.

Mandatory Qualifications

• At least four years of experience playing chess competitively, coaching, or tutoring.
• Proficient English communication skills, both spoken and written.
• Ability to patiently and interactively educate children at different skill levels.
• Strong familiarity with online chess platforms and virtual teaching technologies.
• Possess own laptop/desktop, reliable high-speed internet, webcam, microphone, and suitable quiet space for teaching.
• Residency within India is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Holding a FIDE rating or recognized chess certification is advantageous.
• Experience working with international student groups is a plus.
• Participation experience in chess tournaments at state, national, or international levels.
• Comfortable using video conferencing tools such as Zoom and Google Meet as well as chess sites like Chess.com and Lichess.

Work Hours & Compensation

Teaching sessions are expected during early morning or evening hours in India to suit student schedules. Compensation is competitive per class and depends on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
