Job Purpose

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, this role ensures uninterrupted operation of broadcast equipment to facilitate live transmission of overseas horse racing events for customers, allowing real-time viewing and betting across different global locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair broadcast technical equipment including sound systems, video cameras, and communication tools.
  • Provide onsite technical support during daily broadcast operations such as horse racing events, live/delayed lottery draws, and other company-organized activities.
  • Assist in system testing as required to maintain broadcast standards.
  • Manage emergency technical issues promptly to minimize operational disruptions during daily transmissions.
  • Set up and configure technical equipment for daily operations and company events, ensuring functionality and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Continuously monitor broadcast systems to detect and resolve potential malfunctions, perform safety inspections, and report concerns appropriately.
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance work, repairs, inspections, and equipment performance logs; manage inventory and restock spare parts to ensure availability.
  • Train and guide staff on proper usage and upkeep of broadcast-related technical equipment.
  • Coordinate closely with third-party vendors and service providers to maintain broadcast quality through equipment upkeep, repairs, and upgrades.
  • Collaborate with internal and external parties to ensure smooth daily broadcast operations with minimal interruptions.
  • Support budget preparation and monitoring for equipment maintenance and upgrades, ensuring adherence to allocated financial plans.
  • Work alongside stakeholders to develop and implement projects aimed at optimizing broadcast delivery according to strategic KPIs.
  • Perform additional duties assigned to support broadcasting operations effectively.

Candidate Profile

  • Possesses at least an NITEC qualification in Broadcast Production, Electronics, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in AV setup, broadcast studio operations, live production, electronics, video, or equipment maintenance.
  • Experience or knowledge in live streaming pre/post production is advantageous.
  • Strong technical understanding of broadcast electronics, outdoor filming, and TV production techniques.
  • Capable of promptly diagnosing and resolving technical problems during live broadcasts.
  • Proficient in operating broadcast equipment such as switchers, servers, video/audio mixers, and character generators.
  • Skilled at maintaining high video and audio quality with effective monitoring and control of broadcast feeds.
  • Experienced in videography and video editing software usage.
  • Competent in setup, installation, and maintenance of AV systems related to production.
  • Effective communicator able to work with team members, presenters, and other broadcast staff.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude and ability to perform well under pressure, especially during live events.
  • Willing and able to work rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays to provide 24/7 broadcast support.
