Role Overview
The Ocean Freight Operator will be responsible for managing daily coordination of import and export freight shipments, facilitating the smooth transit of goods while ensuring all shipment documents are accurate and compliant. This position demands a proactive approach focused on customer satisfaction and the ability to foster strong collaborative relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams, while supporting operational effectiveness and regulatory adherence.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and execute freight support activities utilizing the UAF/ACE system within the team.
- Respond to inbound customer and supplier queries via email and phone efficiently.
- Support in preparing KPI data and maintaining reporting updates, particularly within the Exports function.
- Build and maintain cooperative working relationships across colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
- Assist with health and safety compliance ensuring alignment with company policies and best practices.
- Receive and verify shipment documentation for completeness, liaising with customers to resolve any missing information.
- Manage the account process end-to-end with precision.
- Request carrier charges and dispatch delivery pre-alerts to transporters; monitor file progress and shipment release.
- Track and update shipment ETAs daily, confirming dates with Airfreight lines, carriers, and co-loaders, ensuring accuracy.
- Provide customers with regular telephone updates and document status requests related to their shipments.
- Assist with broader administrative tasks across Air and Ocean teams as necessary.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proven experience in a freight forwarding role is essential.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and work independently.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite alongside strong reporting capabilities.
- Excellent communication proficiency, both written and verbal.
- Background in collaborating with customers, suppliers, and carriers.
- Experience in shipment coordination and tracking, including ETA management.
- Strong work ethic, capable of teamwork and self-driven accomplishment.
- Excellent customer service orientation.
- Motivated to meet and exceed set performance targets.

Additional Information
This is a full-time, permanent position based in Blakes Cross, Lusk, Co. Dublin, with standard working hours from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The initial employment includes a six-month probationary period. Post probation, hybrid working options are available.
