Role Overview

This full-time, on-site position in Accra requires the Occupational Therapist to evaluate clients’ physical, cognitive, and psychosocial capabilities. The role involves crafting tailored treatment plans aimed at enhancing everyday skills, mobility, and encouraging engagement in significant activities. Core duties include performing assessments, applying rehabilitation protocols, monitoring client progress, and refining therapy approaches as necessary. Collaboration with doctors, nurses, therapists, and educating clients and families on effective home and community participation strategies is essential. The therapist also partakes in multidisciplinary meetings and contributes to quality improvement efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of clients’ physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs.
• Design and deliver individualized rehabilitation programs focused on daily living skills and functional mobility.
• Document treatment plans and client progress meticulously and update interventions accordingly.
• Coordinate with medical and allied health teams to optimize client care.
• Provide education and support to clients and caregivers on managing conditions safely at home and in the community.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and quality improvement activities.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Strong foundational knowledge in Occupational Therapy and rehabilitation techniques with the capability to create client-responsive treatment plans.
• Familiarity with medical and healthcare practices to enable seamless multidisciplinary teamwork.
• Exceptional communication skills for engaging effectively with clients, families, and colleagues, including precise documentation and client instruction.
• Experience or keen interest in working with pediatric populations, adapting techniques for children and adolescents as needed.
• Possession of a relevant occupational therapy degree and current or eligible licensure in line with local regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work on-site in Accra, manage clinical workloads, and maintain comprehensive records.
• Demonstrated cultural sensitivity, empathy, and commitment to delivering equitable, client-centered care.
• Prior clinical or rehabilitation experience is desirable.
