Overview
NETS' subsidiary, BCS, manages core payment and clearing infrastructures including FAST, IBG, CTS, and supports services such as PayNow and SGQR. The Technology Division ensures continuous operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of these critical systems.
Role Summary
The Observability Engineer will design, deploy, and manage enterprise observability solutions centered around the ELK Stack and AWS monitoring services. This role demands handling telemetry pipelines, alerting systems, dashboards, and automation tools to enhance system reliability and operational efficiency. The engineer will lead initiatives to mature monitoring practices and improve incident detection and root cause analysis with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and improve enterprise observability platforms prioritizing ELK Stack and AWS monitoring.
- Create and maintain end-to-end telemetry ingestion pipelines including logs, metrics, traces, and events with parsing and enrichment.
- Develop dashboards, alerts, and visualizations tailored to infrastructure, application, and operations teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to determine observability requirements and promote adoption of best practices.
- Offer technical support for observability tools, coordinate incident/problem resolution, and optimize performance.
- Coordinate with application, infrastructure, security, and operations teams for implementing and operating observability functions.
- Engage vendors for solution discussions, requirement gathering, and validating implementations.
- Contribute to audit and risk compliance activities from MAS, group audits, and third-party auditors.
- Document and maintain knowledgebases, SOPs, and guidelines associated with observability.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline.
- At least 3 years of practical experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana including cluster management, log ingestion, regex/grok parsing, filtering, and enrichment.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Deep understanding of observability concepts such as telemetry data collection, Golden Signals, and monitoring frameworks.
- Hands-on expertise with AWS observability services to build monitoring, alert systems, and performance analysis.
- Familiarity with other monitoring tools like Grafana, Dynatrace, SolarWinds.
- Python scripting proficiency for automation and API integration; experience with REST APIs and OpenTelemetry (OTEL).
- Knowledge of AI/ML techniques including anomaly detection, Large Language Models, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation is highly favorable.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities to translate observability insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ownership and accountability with ability to lead observability initiatives end-to-end while managing daily operations.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving aptitude.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently under tight deadlines with consistent delivery.
- Collaborative mindset with good interpersonal skills and commitment to knowledge sharing.
Preferred Certifications
- Elastic Certified Observability Engineer or Elastic Certified Analyst.
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
