About the National Dairy Council
The National Dairy Council (NDC) is a representative entity funded by farmers, focused on advocating for dairy as a vital and sustainably produced component in a healthy balanced diet and essential to Ireland's socio-economic welfare. The organisation operates across marketing, communications, farm advocacy, schools, and nutrition.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Nutrition Manager to join our Dublin office on a permanent, full-time basis. This role requires a pragmatic, results-oriented individual with strong analytical and research skills to lead research initiatives, interpret complex data, and represent evidence-based nutrition perspectives. The candidate will be tasked with upholding professional ethics and integrity, effectively communicating scientific concepts in accessible language, and collaborating across teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, oversee, and assess the NDC's nutrition program.
- Lead the commissioning and review of nutrition research through collaborations with academic and relevant institutions.
- Maintain a current understanding of nutrition-related research.
- Lead and manage the nutritionist team member.
- Work closely with communications to validate nutrition claims, ensuring adherence to scientific evidence.
- Partner with healthcare professional bodies to deliver meaningful continuing professional development in dairy nutrition.
- Collaborate with industry and regulatory groups to maintain compliance with legal standards and best practices.
- Develop policy and position papers to articulate dairy's importance in diets and sustainable nutrition.
- Represent the NDC on international platforms including the European Milk Forum (EMF), International Milk Promotion (IMP), and International Dairy Federation.
- Engage stakeholders to advance national nutrition strategies.
Qualifications and Experience
- Honours degree in human nutrition, nutrition science, or dietetics.
- Registration as a nutritionist (AFN), dietitian (CORU), or eligibility for such registration is mandatory.
- An MSc or PhD in Nutrition and Health is highly desirable.
- Minimum of five years' relevant experience in research, academia, regulation, industry, or health promotion.
- Experience in communications and media relations is required.
- Familiarity with EU Nutrition & Health Claims legislation is essential.
Additional Information
- Knowledge of dairy nutrition, sustainable food systems, and interest in sports nutrition is advantageous.
- The role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
- Managed a direct report: one full-time nutritionist.
- Workweek typically Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with possible consideration for a four-day week.
- Based in the Sandyford offices in Dublin, with occasional travel in Ireland and abroad.
- Applicants must be eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland.
