Job description
About the Role
We seek a proactive and meticulous Level 1 Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer to join our IT client based in Bhubaneswar. This full-time position requires monitoring and maintaining network health, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and ensuring optimal uptime for enterprise and client network infrastructures. The role occasionally involves site visits to support physical troubleshooting and deployment tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor network links, hardware, and infrastructure using tools such as Zabbix, Wireshark, and Nagios.
- Perform initial alert assessment, analyze logs, and troubleshoot issues related to link outages, latency, and packet loss.
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot basic enterprise networking devices including switches, routers, and access points from vendors like Cisco, Huawei, and Juniper.
- Conduct periodic site visits for network installations, hardware replacements, fiber optic link verifications, and vendor coordination on-site.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, field engineers, and Internet Service Providers to resolve fiber optic and routing issues.
- Manage support tickets on platforms such as ServiceNow, ensuring detailed documentation and compliance with service level agreements.
Qualifications and Skills
- Holds a B.Tech or Diploma degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Information Technology (IT), or a related technical field.
- Fundamental understanding of networking concepts including the OSI model, TCP/IP protocols, DNS, DHCP, static and dynamic routing protocols like OSPF, and VLAN configurations.
- Willingness and capacity to perform occasional local travel and on-site visits for deployment and fault resolution.
- Hands-on experience or certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, or Cisco Black Belt is highly advantageous.
- Basic proficiency with Linux command line and familiarity with scripting languages like Python, Shell, or Bash.
- Excellent communication abilities and adaptability to work in dynamic operational settings.
