Job description
Role Overview
The Night Cleaning Operative will perform specific cleaning duties across trains and stations as part of Transport for Wales' cleaning teams.
Key Duties
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas including train interiors by utilizing provided equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), completing tasks like damp wiping, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, restroom and kitchen cleaning, and luggage rack tidying within scheduled timeframes.
- Clean station platforms and designated locations by emptying waste bins, removing graffiti and pigeon droppings after proper training, ensuring a hygienic and safe environment for passengers and staff.
- Restock essential supplies such as soap and toilet paper in specific facility zones to maintain readiness and hygiene standards.
- Conduct intensive cleaning tasks as needed, operating machinery for carpet cleaning, steam cleaning, and occasional high-pressure jet washing of station facilities.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in a cleaning role is required.
- Competence in using cleaning equipment and handling materials safely.
- Adherence to health and safety guidelines and procedures is essential.
- Knowledge of safe handling methods for cleaning chemicals.
Welsh Language Skills
Welsh language proficiency is not mandatory but would strengthen your application. Transport for Wales supports language learning through online resources, classroom instruction, and funding for community courses.
