Role Overview
We seek an experienced Network Engineer or Senior Network Engineer to lead our regional network operations and expansion across the Asia-Pacific region (primarily Singapore and India). This role involves hands-on technical leadership in deploying, maintaining, and improving data center networks, Points of Presence (PoPs), and transport networks. You will collaborate closely with core teams based in Amsterdam and the US following a global follow-the-sun operating model. The position is fully remote within APAC, with occasional onsite visits.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume full ownership of the network infrastructure across APAC, covering out-of-band management, L2 switches, and high-capacity leaf-spine fabrics (EVPN/VXLAN) with 400G to 1.6T readiness spanning regional interconnects (BGP/MPLS/SRv6).
- Independently manage site bring-up and troubleshoot connectivity within challenging greenfield colocation environments, making critical architectural and operational decisions promptly.
- Collaborate globally with EU and US backbone, architecture, and platform teams, participate in regional maintenance windows, and engage in follow-the-sun on-call rotations.
- Facilitate team growth by onboarding new members, developing thorough runbooks, and transferring operation responsibilities to ensure sustainable scaling.
- Adapt swiftly within a dynamic, fast-paced setting where deployment priorities and schedules evolve based on customer needs.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on experience with routing and switching in service provider or large-scale data center environments, including in-depth knowledge of BGP, IS-IS/OSPF, EVPN/VXLAN, SR-MPLS/SRv6, ECMP load balancing, and L3VPN.
- Strong diagnostic skills in multi-tier Clos fabrics with proficiency in TCP/IP, dual-stack IPv4/IPv6, packet capture tools (tcpdump, Wireshark), and understanding of interface errors and QoS queue behavior.
- Comprehensive network knowledge from physical hardware bring-up on management switches and routers to high-capacity border configurations, preferably with Juniper equipment but also Cisco or Nokia.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting across various modern network operating systems such as Juniper Junos, Cisco IOS-XR, Arista EOS, or NVIDIA/Cumulus.
- Ability to manage priorities autonomously in ambiguous situations while maintaining effective communication and cooperation across Europe (CEST) and US (EST/PST) time zones.
- Professional proficiency in English including technical documentation and clear communication under pressure.
Desirable Skills
- Basic scripting and network automation skills utilizing Python or Go, version control (Git), NetBox, and telemetry systems.
- Hands-on knowledge of AI-focused high-performance networking protocols such as RoCEv2 including PFC, ECN/DCQCN, and MCR.
- Experience dealing directly with APAC regional telecom carriers, dark fiber providers, subsea cable consortiums, and Internet Exchanges like Equinix IX, JPIX, or SGIX.
- Familiarity with Linux networking, including bridge domains and container networking based on BGP-to-host.
