Network Engineer

Position Summary

The Network Engineer plays a vital role in planning, deploying, managing, and troubleshooting the network infrastructure within an organization. This position ensures seamless network availability, optimal performance, security, and connectivity for corporate offices, data centers, cloud platforms, and remote users.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, set up, preserve, and troubleshoot enterprise-level network systems, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless networks, and VPNs.
• Continuously monitor network performance, uptime, capacity, and reliability using appropriate monitoring tools.
• Handle network upgrades, configuration changes, and hardware maintenance.
• Keep comprehensive and accurate documentation of network diagrams, configurations, and related records.
• Identify and troubleshoot connectivity problems in LAN, WAN, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and routing services, performing root cause analysis and corrective measures.
• Configure and fine-tune routing and switching protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLAN, STP, DHCP, and DNS to optimize traffic flow and network efficiency.
• Manage network security by administering firewalls, enforcing access controls, monitoring for security threats, coordinating with cybersecurity teams during incidents, and applying security patches.
• Support cloud networking infrastructure configurations and troubleshooting on platforms like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, ensuring proper virtual network setups and seamless hybrid cloud connectivity.
• Configure and maintain enterprise wireless networks, resolving Wi-Fi coverage and authentication challenges.
• Setup and troubleshoot VPN connections for site-to-site and remote-access scenarios to ensure secure connectivity for remote users and business locations.
• Engage in network expansion projects, infrastructure upgrades, and migrations, and support disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
• Respond to network incidents per service level agreements, document incident and change tickets, and perform scheduled maintenance changes with proper escalation when required.
• Collaborate with vendors by managing support cases, coordinating hardware replacements, and assisting in equipment procurement.
• Maintain detailed documentation and reporting of network topologies, IP inventories, firewall rules, VPN setups, incident logs, and disaster recovery plans.
• Adhere strictly to company network security policies, IT standards, and compliance requirements, supporting audits and safeguarding confidential information.

• Cisco routers and switches, Cisco ASA/Firepower
• Palo Alto and Fortinet firewalls
• Aruba wireless systems and Cisco Meraki
• Cloud networking with AWS and Azure
• VPN technologies and network protocols like TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLAN, STP
• Network monitoring tools including Wireshark and SolarWinds
• ServiceNow for incident and change management

Ideal Skills and Certifications

• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP and subnetting
• Experience with routing, switching, firewall management, and VPN troubleshooting
• Proficiency in network security and cloud network environments
• Competence in network monitoring and incident/change management procedures
• Excellent documentation and communication abilities
• Ability to coordinate with US-based teams and vendors, including working during US business hours or scheduled maintenance periods
• Certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, AWS, Microsoft Azure networking certifications, and ITIL are valued
