About the Role
BMO invites you to become a Mortgage Specialist, offering you the opportunity to channel your entrepreneurial drive and help clients fulfill their homeownership dreams. This role provides comprehensive training, competitive referral incentives, and the support needed to excel in expanding your business pipeline.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and nurture a robust referral network by establishing national and local partnerships to generate mortgage business.
- Design and implement effective marketing and sales initiatives to boost mortgage originations and market share.
- Identify and leverage cross-selling and up-selling opportunities to meet personal and branch sales targets.
- Represent BMO at industry events, including trade shows and conferences, to build community presence.
- Advocate for customers through the mortgage application and approval process, ensuring a smooth experience.
- Collaborate with branch teams to finalize mortgage documentation and refer clients for non-mortgage banking needs.
- Resolve or escalate issues promptly to meet client expectations and ensure timely fund disbursement.
- Maintain expert knowledge of mortgage products, market trends, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Analyze and report data insights to inform business strategies and operational improvements.
- Execute daily transactional and service-related tasks within established service level agreements.
- Demonstrate independent judgment and creativity in problem-solving and contribute to strategic planning and execution.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Typically requires 3 to 5 years of relevant experience coupled with a post-secondary degree or equivalent education and experience.
- Proficient understanding of mortgage lending processes and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, sales, and customer service expertise.
- Deep knowledge of personal lending, banking products, and the broader real estate and mortgage market.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, along with analytical and collaborative abilities.
Compensation and Benefits
This position offers commission-based remuneration with variability depending on location, skill level, experience, and qualifications. Compensation includes an expected first-year target alongside performance incentives, discretionary bonuses, and additional perks.
