We embrace diversity and unite talents and perspectives to foster a healthier future through compassion, innovation, and opportunity.

Position Overview

We are expanding our Microbiology team and seek an enthusiastic Molecular Technologist 1 to contribute to the delivery of precise, high-quality scientific testing to pharmaceutical and life sciences clients. The role involves handling, identifying, and analyzing samples via cutting-edge microbiological techniques such as bacterial 16S rDNA sequencing, fungal ITS2 sequencing, and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry.

Working within a GMP-compliant laboratory environment, you will uphold rigorous standards of quality and accuracy, while supporting continuous laboratory enhancements and exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately process customer samples following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Receive, unpack, document, and subculture samples per procedural guidelines.
  • Prepare aliquots and reagents necessary for testing procedures.
  • Execute laboratory techniques including test streaks, PCR, sequencing, mass spectrometry, and ribotyping.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and sanitation of laboratory instruments.
  • Verify pipettes to ensure precision.
  • Provide operational backup across various laboratory functions as required.
  • Safely dispose of cultures, chemicals, and glassware in compliance with waste protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with technical support to address sample discrepancies.
  • Adhere strictly to laboratory safety protocols, including safety stations, manuals, SOPs, and MSDS documentation.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for workflow and process enhancements.
  • Participate in special projects supporting laboratory goals when assigned.
  • Complete additional related duties as needed.

Education and Experience Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Science, Biological Sciences, or a closely related scientific field is required. Prior laboratory experience, whether through internships, placements, research projects, or employment, is advantageous but not mandatory, making this position suitable for recent graduates eager to launch their careers in microbiology and analytical testing. Equivalent education, training, and experience combinations will be considered.

Additional Qualifications and Attributes

  • Solid understanding of microbiological principles and common laboratory methods.
  • Knowledge or exposure to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Quality Systems, and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is beneficial.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with strong emphasis on accuracy and data integrity.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Effective oral and written communication abilities and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Proactive, flexible, and dedicated to producing high-caliber scientific outcomes.
  • Ability to perform well in a dynamic laboratory environment while maintaining compliance and quality standards.
