Mobile Maintenance Engineer with Electrical Specialization

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Mobile Maintenance Engineer with a focus on electrical systems to join our experienced Facilities Management team. This role involves travelling to various client locations to perform both planned and reactive maintenance, electrical fault diagnosis, and repairs, ensuring our clients’ buildings and electrical infrastructure remain safe, compliant, and operational.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to reactive maintenance needs at client sites.
• Diagnose electrical faults and conduct necessary repairs efficiently.
• Maintain electrical systems, including lighting, small power circuits, switchgear, and allied building services components.
• Assist in upkeep of HVAC equipment and other mechanical and electrical systems.
• Address Building Management System (BMS) alarms and perform initial fault diagnosis.
• Carry out minor repairs, maintenance tasks, and installations as required.
• Document maintenance work, service reports, and comply with statutory requirements.
• Use simPRO software to update job statuses and record completed tasks.
• Ensure plant rooms and engineering zones are safe and maintained to high standards.
• Identify and report hazards, defects, and pending statutory maintenance issues promptly.
• Coordinate with subcontractors for specialist maintenance activities.
• Maintain clear communication channels with clients, end users, and the engineering team.
• Adhere strictly to electrical safety standards and organizational procedures during all tasks.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate has prior experience in Facilities Management or commercial building maintenance with a strong electrical maintenance background.

• Possess a City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 electrical certification.
• Knowledgeable in 17th and 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Proven expertise in electrical fault-finding and maintenance operations.
• Experience performing both planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
• Solid understanding of electrical safe working practices.
• Excellent communication and customer service capabilities.
• Capable of working independently across diverse client locations.
• Strong organizational skills with effective workload prioritization.

Additional qualifications or experience in IPAF, PASMA, L8/water hygiene, BMS, generators, HVAC, pumps, pressurisation systems, or ventilation are advantageous.

Team Environment and Support

You will be part of a team comprising seven Mobile Engineers and a broader group of Static Engineers supported by four Supervisors and four Contract Managers.

Regular meetings and a dedicated WhatsApp group provide ongoing technical support and communication.

On-call Requirements and Compensation

The role includes participation in a callout rota approximately one week out of every seven.

Engineers receive a £200 standby payment for on-call weeks, in addition to any callout fees and possible overtime based on client and company demands.
