Role Overview

Reporting to the Head of Research, Analytics & Data Science, the MLOps Engineer plays a crucial role in collaborating with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Technology teams to deploy and maintain machine learning and AI solutions in production settings. The initial focus will be on operationalizing and supporting a major machine learning engine hosted on Databricks while also aiding various predictive modeling, optimization, and AI projects across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Data Science teams to transition models from experimentation through validation to deployment and ongoing production management.
  • Develop and sustain production workflows encompassing data ingestion, processing, model execution, retraining, testing, and deployment.
  • Create and manage CI/CD pipelines and structured release procedures for machine learning and AI workloads.
  • Construct and uphold reliable data and feature pipelines required by AI/ML solutions.
  • Identify and resolve production issues related to models, data, or platform in conjunction with Data Science and Engineering teams.
  • Implement enterprise-level access controls, security protocols, and governance within Databricks, including permissions for AI agents and automated systems.
  • Support the deployment and operations of Generative AI solutions including Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), and emerging AI use cases.
  • Develop reusable templates, tools, and best practices to streamline consistent model deployment.
  • Establish and configure state-of-the-art tools to comply with production standards and best practices.
  • Optimize performance and ensure efficient utilization of Databricks and cloud infrastructure.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proficient in Python and SQL, with practical experience using PySpark in distributed data environments.
  • Hands-on experience working with Azure Databricks ecosystem including MLflow, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Workflows.
  • Proven background in deploying, monitoring, and operating machine learning models in production, including managing drift detection and alerting for performance and data quality.
  • Experience incorporating CI/CD and sound software engineering practices specifically for data or machine learning applications, preferably with Azure DevOps.
  • Established expertise in developing unit and integration testing frameworks for AI and machine learning projects.
  • Skills in optimizing data processing performance and tuning.
  • Understanding of governance frameworks including AI agent guardrails, permission structures, auditability, and operational risk management.

Preferred Additional Experience

  • Deployment and operational management of agentic AI and LLM-based production solutions such as RAG, vector search, evaluation versioning, and agent orchestration.
  • Knowledge of AI agent management and Multi-channel Processing (MCP) orchestration tools.
  • Experience with Azure cloud services supporting AI and machine learning workloads.
  • Databricks certifications or equivalent hands-on experience.
