Role Overview

The Industrial Millwright position involves installing, repairing, maintaining, testing, and troubleshooting machinery and equipment to ensure smooth operations. The role requires support of industrial structures based on manufacturers' instructions, layout plans, and drawings, alongside performing various mechanical and fabrication tasks as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret diagrams and schematic drawings to plan work procedures, and prepare sketches if documentation is unavailable.
• Dismantle and repair machinery and equipment using both hand and power tools; handle machinery movement using appropriate lifting and transportation devices.
• Assemble, install, and erect a variety of equipment and machines as required.
• Construct foundations for equipment using suitable building tools and materials.
• Perform alignment of machinery utilizing the correct instruments and devices.
• Set up and dismantle scaffolds safely, and execute proper rigging for equipment movement.
• Test machinery after adjustments, and repair or substitute defective parts or systems.
• Operate machine tools to manufacture or modify necessary components.
• Conduct regular inspections and perform preventive maintenance on utilities, services, buildings, and machinery as directed.
• Carry out repairs or modifications on buildings and structural elements when needed.
• Be available to work across all shifts, with primary coverage on the afternoon shift from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent educational qualification.
• Possession of a valid Maintenance Millwright certification.
• Fundamental understanding of PLCs along with electrical and electronic control devices.
• Strong mechanical skills coupled with fabrication aptitude.
• Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Forklift operator certification for Ventra Plastics Kitchener.
• Capability to work in both extreme indoor and outdoor environments as required.
