Job description
Role Overview
Join M Group as a Meter Reader, where you will collect electricity or gas meter data from commercial and residential clients using advanced handheld technology. You'll be a key company representative, ensuring precise data collection and providing excellent customer service during your visits. This active, outdoor role offers flexible working hours with various shift lengths and times available.
Typical Daily Activities
Start your day by logging into your handheld device and preparing your route plan. You'll navigate between properties on foot or by vehicle, reading meters situated both inside and outside. Planning your visit timing is crucial to gain access to indoor meters. Accuracy and safety—both yours and the customers'—are essential. You will work independently, efficiently managing your schedule come rain or shine.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates are self-driven and energetic, possibly with experience managing appointments or working outdoors, though this is not mandatory. A full UK driving license is required except for London locations. Strong communication and customer service skills are necessary alongside the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Physical stamina to walk miles daily is also vital. Candidates must pass a DBS check and screening processes, including providing a five-year employment history.
Compensation and Working Hours
Available weekly hours options are 40, 42, or 45 hours with shifts between 8 am and 8 pm, Monday to Sunday. The base salary is A323,191 for 40 hours per week, plus a non-consolidated allowance of A30.38 per hour and a discretionary monthly bonus.
