Role Overview

Sinclair Inc. seeks a Meteorologist to deliver weather forecasts both on-air and online, maintaining an engaging presence across digital and social media platforms. Key duties include weather anchoring during newscasts, reporting from the field, and producing weather-related content such as video packages and short reports.

Primary Responsibilities

• Create and present clear, compelling weather forecasts that connect with viewers by telling a weather story.
• Issue weather alerts and warnings, develop graphics and maps, and provide live reporting during weather events.
• Maintain and update social media accounts by writing weather stories and sharing content.
• Represent the station publicly through appearances and outreach.
• Collaborate with producers to identify relevant weather information during breaking news and routine updates.
• Partner with the digital team to generate engaging content for platforms including the website and YouTube.
• Produce occasional weather packages to enhance broadcast content.

Qualifications and Skills

• Extensive knowledge of meteorological forecasting techniques.
• Demonstrated experience conducting live shots with active and visual components.
• Strong multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines effectively.
• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• Prior professional experience as a weather anchor or meteorologist in a news station environment.
• Familiarity with journalistic ethics and standards.
