Merchandiser

Overview

The Merchandiser plays a vital role at the branch by boosting sales and profitability through ensuring that customer stores are well-stocked with appropriate products. Responsibilities include delivering merchandise, stocking shelves, organizing displays, and tracking inventory to create appealing product presentations.

Key Duties

• Stock and maintain store shelves according to company and client standards.
• Inspect shelves and backroom areas for excess inventory, proper product rotation, and expiration dates.
• Maintain ongoing communication with existing customers to promptly resolve issues and address concerns.
• Deliver and pick up products and equipment as needed.
• Stay updated on new product offerings and general company information.
• Prepare finished goods for shipment by shrink-wrapping, boxing, and labeling.
• Stage finished products for loading and verify order accuracy against purchase/work orders.
• Unload truck and container shipments and stock items in assigned areas.
• Ensure quality control standards by preventing damaged products from storage or shipment.
• Adhere to established standard operating procedures.
• Operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely and efficiently.
• Manage inventory transfers into and out of controlled areas.
• Provide backup assistance to other warehouse departments as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks under various time constraints.
• Knowledge of retail food operations principles and practices.
• Familiarity with grocery business operations.
• Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Proficient English reading, speaking, and writing skills.
• Capability to comply with policies and procedures to arrange tasks methodically.
• Effective communication and professional interpersonal skills with flexibility.
• Physical capability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing over 50 pounds.
• A consistent positive work record with strong attendance.
• Willingness to work extended hours when required.
