Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced MEP Electrical Draftsman to be part of our MEP team for infrastructure and utility projects. The role focuses on preparing and coordinating detailed electrical shop drawings including water and wastewater pumping stations, LV/MV electrical systems, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), electrical layouts, load schedules, lighting, small power, and cable routing. The draftsman will ensure adherence to approved IFC drawings, project specifications, and TAQA Distribution’s standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed electrical shop drawings tailored for infrastructure projects such as water and wastewater pumping stations and utility services.
• Create and maintain Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) representing LV/MV electrical distribution, including MCCs, control panels, and distribution boards.
• Prepare comprehensive electrical load schedules addressing connected and demand loads, diversity factors, power factor, spare capacity, and feeder necessities.
• Develop layouts for LV/MV electrical equipment including MDB/SMDB/FDB, MCCs, transformers, RMUs, and electrical intake rooms.
• Design lighting and small power layouts encompassing emergency lighting, lighting controls, sockets, isolators, and control stations.
• Generate cable tray, ladder, and routing drawings with detailed cable schedules, sizing, termination details, and equipment connections.
• Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, civil, structural, and process engineering inputs to ensure cohesive project delivery.
• Revise and update drawings per approved IFC drawings, site modifications, design changes, consultant feedback, and regulatory requirements.
• Address and incorporate feedback from TAQA Distribution, consultants, and clients following approved protocols.
• Prepare as-built drawings reflecting actual site installations based on approved shop drawings.
• Review electrical equipment datasheets, approved material submissions, and vendor documentation to ensure accurate reflection in drawings.
• Collaborate effectively with site electrical engineers, subcontractors, consultants, and authority officials to resolve technical drawing issues.
• Prepare drawings and necessary documentation for authority submissions in line with project and TAQA Distribution requirements.
• Maintain accurate registers, revision controls, drawing references, and submission statuses.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 4 years of experience in the UAE as an Electrical Draftsman.
• Certification in AutoCAD is mandatory.
• Proven expertise in preparing electrical shop drawings specifically for infrastructure and utility projects.
• Strong understanding of LV/MV electrical systems and compliance with TAQA Distribution regulations.
• Competent use of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with P&ID and associated drawings is considered advantageous.
