Role Description
Altos is looking for a detail-oriented Medical Editor with substantial experience in reviewing, editing, and formatting Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) reports. This role is essential to ensure reports comply with California workers' compensation laws and maintain high standards of accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Review transcription documents thoroughly against source paperwork and audio to guarantee precision.
- Ensure all reports comply strictly with AMA Guides (5th Edition), California Labor Codes 4663 & 4664, and other applicable legal and medical standards.
- Verify correct use of medical terminology, spelling, and data consistency across reports.
- Format medical-legal documents to meet regulatory template requirements.
- Communicate effectively with Evaluators to resolve queries and obtain missing information.
- Maintain high-quality output by monitoring medical records for errors or inconsistencies.
- Manage urgent report requests and prioritize workload to meet demanding deadlines.
Candidate Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years experience editing medical-legal reports, particularly within Workers Compensation and Med-Legal contexts.
- Strong knowledge of medical terms, anatomy, and worker’s compensation processes.
- Excellent command of Microsoft Word, familiarity with electronic medical records, and experience with Google Docs.
- Exceptional attention to detail to detect minor errors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience handling QME/AME/IME reports within California jurisdiction.
- Knowledge of AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment.
- Background in Quality Assurance or editorial roles in the medical field.
- Capability to work autonomously.
