Job description

Job Overview

The Medical Attaché will act as an official representative of Qatar's medical interests in designated countries such as Bonn, London, Thailand, or Washington. This role includes serving as a primary liaison for global health diplomacy and supporting Qatari patients receiving medical treatment abroad.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accompany patients traveling internationally for treatment, assisting their recovery and facilitating their care.
  • Develop an annual improvement plan addressing administrative, financial, IT, and service processes within the medical office.
  • Oversee quality control of medical, administrative, and financial assessments for Qatari patients in various healthcare institutions.
  • Provide comprehensive information to patients regarding their treatment journey and stay from arrival to departure.
  • Identify appropriate medical facilities abroad for patient care.
  • Manage patient logistics including airport reception, transportation between airport and healthcare providers.
  • Conduct patient visits to gather feedback and complaints and relay these to relevant departments.
  • Review and approve medical invoices and financial procedures prior to payment.
  • Validate medical reports and sick leave documentation.
  • Create and maintain a database documenting patients, escorts, treatments, and associated costs, providing updates to the department regularly.
  • Ensure patients and escorts return home safely.
  • Offer interpretation and translation services during patient consultations and for medical documentation.
  • Coordinate daily allowance payments for patients and escorts.
  • Oversee transportation between living accommodations and healthcare or rehabilitation centers.
  • Handle visa extension paperwork for patients and escorts in coordination with authorities.
  • Procure medications and medical aids as needed during treatment abroad.
  • Arrange patients' travel back to Qatar.
  • Prepare and submit regular performance reports including clinical outcomes, complaints, trends, and suggestions for improvement to the Ministry of Public Health MRTA.
  • Manage contracts with external service providers (transportation companies, translators, auditors, pharmacies) ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Supervise sponsored students and employees studying abroad.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Working Environment

This role is based at medical offices located in the assigned countries (Bonn, London, Thailand, Washington) outside of Qatar.

Educational Requirements

A Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Medicine, Biology, Health Care Management, Public Health, or a related field is required. Alternatively, candidates with relevant qualifications or equivalent experience suited to the role's demands will be considered.

Experience requirements and grading will be established as per HR policies based on the candidate's education and professional background.
