Mechanical Trainee

Position Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and meticulous Mechanical Trainee to assist our Supply Chain, Quality, and Production teams. This entry-level role acts as a crucial link between material procurement and shop-floor activities, offering hands-on experience in quality control, inventory management, vendor negotiations, and production scheduling.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct dimensional and visual inspections of raw materials, machined parts, and castings using measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges, conforming to engineering drawings and technical standards.
• Detect and report material defects, segregate rejected batches, and verify supplier documents including delivery notes, test certificates, and invoices.
• Generate Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs) promptly in ERP or accounting software upon quality approval to maintain accurate inventory records.
• Monitor internal Purchase Requisitions, issue Purchase Orders, manage RFQ processes, and create comparison statements for different vendors.
• Support senior procurement staff in price negotiation, cost analysis, and confirming delivery schedules.
• Maintain constant communication with suppliers to follow up on outstanding orders and expedite critical materials to avoid production delays.
• Convert the master production plan into detailed daily shift schedules for machines and operators.
• Check raw material availability before production to prevent shortages during runs.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team for tooling readiness and changeovers.
• Track shop floor performance indicators daily by comparing actual output against targets.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

• Education: Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
• Experience: Fresh graduates or candidates with up to one year of internship/trainee experience in manufacturing.
• Technical skills: Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
• Knowledge of common engineering materials including steel, cast iron, and polymers is expected.
