Mechanical Estimator

Position Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Estimator based in Milton Keynes to join a growing multidisciplinary contractor renowned in M&E, commercial construction, facilities management, and small works. This role offers the chance to significantly influence early project stages by delivering precise and commercially sound mechanical estimates.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical estimate processes from initial inquiries to final tender submissions.
• Analyze drawings and specifications to generate detailed take-offs and cost plans.
• Cost out labor, materials, machinery, and subcontractor packages accurately.
• Develop and nurture relationships with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
• Identify value engineering possibilities and recommend cost reduction strategies.
• Collaborate closely with project and operational teams to ensure estimate feasibility and commercial viability.
• Support tender submissions by preparing clear and structured commercial documentation.
• Stay informed about prevailing market costs, supplier pricing, and trends in the industry.

Candidate Profile

• Documented experience as a Mechanical Estimator in building services or M&E sectors.
• Solid knowledge of mechanical systems such as HVAC, heating, and plumbing installations.
• Background in commercial construction, refurbishment, fit-out, or facilities management projects.
• Competency in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Excellent commercial insight coupled with strong numerical and analytical capabilities.
• Proactive, with proven ability to handle multiple tenders and adhere to deadlines.
