Role Overview

We seek a Mechanical Engineer passionate about tackling real-world challenges through iterative product development and continuous enhancement. In this role, you will design and refine the mechanical hardware powering eShepherd's virtual fencing technology, which innovates livestock management by boosting productivity, welfare, and efficiency on farms. Your engineering decisions will have immediate and tangible impact in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create durable, cost-efficient mechanical designs for new products and improvements.
  • Guide projects from initial concept stages through testing, manufacturing, and deployment in agricultural settings.
  • Engage in design consultations, including manufacturability and failure mode analyses.
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges with practical engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with electronics, firmware, product management, and manufacturing teams.
  • Analyze product performance in the field, investigate reliability and warranty issues.
  • Work alongside customer-facing personnel to gain insights directly from end users.
  • Convert feedback and field data into meaningful refinements and ongoing improvements.
  • Drive continuous advancements across product lines, manufacturing processes, and technological innovations.

Candidate Profile

The ideal engineer is pragmatic, enjoys experimentation-based problem solving, and values progress over perfection. Required qualifications and experiences include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in product development or research and development.
  • Expertise in injection molded plastics and appropriate material selection.
  • Proven capability designing functional mechanical mechanisms.
  • Proficient with CAD software, preferably PTC Creo.
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), design for manufacturability (DFM), design reviews, and failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA).
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Effective communicator of complex technical information to varied stakeholders.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and iterative design processes.
