With patented IP, the company focuses on developing a unique lab-scale soft x-ray imaging microscope capable of detailed 3D cell imaging. Their cutting-edge products serve global disease and drug research markets, earning numerous national and EU awards. Currently, SiriusXT is expanding its team to support ongoing commercial growth.
Role Summary
The Mechanical Engineer will play an integral role by applying comprehensive engineering skills to develop highly precise electro-mechanical and optical assemblies designed for vacuum and cryogenic environments. This position provides the opportunity to influence the design and commercialization of groundbreaking technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical systems tailored to specific functional requirements.
- Conduct problem analysis and root cause investigation.
- Produce engineering documentation including CAD models, drawings, BOMs, technical specifications, and test plans in compliance with internal standards and deadlines.
- Validate designs through thorough calculations ensuring adherence to specifications.
- Create and execute testing and validation protocols.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Construct and test modules and systems.
- Support on-site integration and commissioning of systems at collaborator locations internationally.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering.
- Preferably over 3 years of professional experience in relevant mechanical design fields.
- Strong foundational knowledge in solid mechanics, thermodynamics, material science, and vibration principles.
- High analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
- Understanding practical machining processes for components.
- Hands-on experience with system design and assembly construction.
- Familiarity with 3rd party regulatory approvals, especially CE Marking.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks and document management systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Additional Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience.
- Background with vacuum or space instrumentation and systems.
- Experience in optical system design and scientific data acquisition.
- Cryogenic system knowledge.
- Project management capabilities.
- Programming and instrumentation skills.
