Job description
About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Design & Engineering team focused on developing and enhancing Module Mounting Structure (MMS) systems for solar installations. The position demands expertise in structural design, validation, technical customer support, and continuous product enhancement to deliver reliable and cost-effective solar mounting solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and analyze customer needs, project demands, and site characteristics to create optimized MMS designs.
- Develop comprehensive 2D and 3D CAD models, including assembly and fabrication drawings as well as bills of materials.
- Design a variety of solar mounting solutions including fixed-tilt, rooftop, and ground-mounted systems tailored to project specifications.
- Refine and adjust existing designs to improve cost efficiency, manufacturability, and mechanical performance.
- Carry out structural calculations addressing wind, dead, live loads, and tilt angle optimization to ensure stability and compliance.
- Apply Finite Element Analysis to verify the structural soundness and load handling capabilities of solar mounting assemblies.
- Adhere to relevant structural standards and project criteria during design validation.
- Contribute to the innovation of new MMS products, perform quality inspections of structural profiles, and support the evaluation of product performance.
- Provide ongoing technical assistance to clients, project teams, and installation personnel, troubleshooting design and site issues effectively.
- Coordinate across departments including Manufacturing, Procurement, Sales, and Projects, in addition to vendor collaboration to enhance product quality and design processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
- At least 2 years of design engineering experience with a focus on solar MMS preferred.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and STAAD Pro for design and analysis tasks.
- Strong background in structural engineering principles and international code standards.
- Competent in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for documentation and presentation purposes.
- Experience in renewable energy projects or MMS manufacturing is advantageous.
Skills & Competencies
- Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks and STAAD Pro software.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis methods and Ansys is beneficial.
- Capability in structural calculations and optimization techniques.
- Meticulous with a strong focus on design quality and accuracy.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to manage multiple projects and interact with stakeholders.
