Mechanical Design Engineer

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be part of a dedicated Engineering design and development team focused on Continuous Ink Jet (CIJ) printers. Located at our Huntingdon R&D and Manufacturing site, you will engage in both office and lab work, with flexible options for remote work when feasible.

Key Responsibilities

• Address engineering challenges by devising innovative solutions and concepts.
• Develop new mechanical designs or enhance existing ones.
• Create technical drawings and detailed reports including results and analyses.
• Apply theoretical mechanical engineering analyses where appropriate.
• Participate in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), prototype testing, and validation of design ideas.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Degree or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
• Several years’ experience in engineering or product development roles.
• Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), preferably SolidWorks or comparable software.
• Understanding of engineering detailing standards such as Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), or readiness to learn.
• Strong engineering skills in both theoretical and practical aspects for mechanical system design and analysis.

Desirable Additional Experience

• Experience using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools.
• Familiarity with engineering quality processes like DFMEA, Process Safety Practice (PSP), etc.
• Background in industries related to printer manufacturing or similar sectors.
