Job description
Position Overview
We are looking for a dedicated Meat Clerk to join our team at The Root Cellar's Chop Shop Meat Market located at McKenzie Corner in Victoria, BC. You will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the meat department, preparing ingredients for our in-house products, and ensuring products are properly wrapped and rotated in displays. We pride ourselves on offering the finest selection of locally sourced fresh and cured meats as well as value-added products made fresh in-house using quality ingredients.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain product quality, freshness, and appealing presentation at all times.
- Adhere strictly to workplace and food safety standards and procedures.
- Perform cleaning tasks including floors, counters, worktables, trays, and equipment.
- Prepare, wrap, weigh, label, and price meat and seafood items.
- Keep displays stocked to ensure adequate product availability.

Candidate Profile
- Capable of performing repetitive tasks, standing for extended periods, working in a cool environment, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Efficient multitasker able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player with good collaboration skills.
- Previous retail or customer service experience is advantageous but not mandatory, as training is provided for motivated candidates.
- Deliver excellent customer service consistently.
- Availability for early morning shifts starting at 6:00 am.
