About the Role
The Services Finance Controller will spearhead the establishment and management of a robust financial control framework within the consulting and services business portfolio. This role partners closely with Delivery and Services teams to enhance project profitability, ensure accurate revenue recognition, and oversee financial performance diligently. Reporting directly to the Middle East & Africa Finance Director, the incumbent acts as a financial business partner, providing prompt insights into financial risks, enforcing disciplined forecasts, and facilitating proactive measures on underperforming projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Monthly review and validation of revenue recognition, work in progress (WIP), and unbilled revenue to identify delivery challenges and revenue-related risks.
- Strict adherence to IFRS standards and internal policies, including managing percentage-of-completion accounting for revenue recognition.
- Monitoring critical financial metrics such as backlog yield and total contract value (TCV) to evaluate financial control effectiveness.
- Manage and assess project profitability, focusing on costs, margins, and early detection of risks, recommending corrective strategies as needed.
- Analyse resource utilization patterns to identify areas of profit leaks or potential cost overruns.
- Provide timely financial risk visibility and contribute to intervention strategies for projects that are not meeting financial expectations.
- Lead the annual budgeting process for services and facilitate monthly forecasting to support financial planning.
- Collaborate with Delivery and Services leadership to drive enhanced financial outcomes and informed decision-making.
- Deliver structured financial reporting, with comprehensive analysis and actionable insights that support both operational and strategic goals.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Extensive experience in finance controlling within consulting, professional services, or project-driven environments.
- Proficient knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting methods and project revenue recognition compliant with IFRS standards.
- Strong capabilities in financial analysis and advanced financial modeling techniques.
- Ability to work effectively alongside delivery and operational teams to align financial objectives.
- In-depth understanding of elements that drive project profitability and forecasting approaches.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and expertise with ERP and reporting systems.
