Job description
About Math Vigilante Tuition Centre
Math Vigilante is a focused mathematics tuition centre operating three locations within Singapore: Katong Shopping Centre, 806 Hougang Central, and Block 19 Hougang Avenue 3. The centre specializes in upper primary through O-Level Additional Mathematics education, using a custom-built, structured curriculum. Small class sizes allow tutors to personalize instruction and build strong student relationships. The centre prioritizes excellent exam results for PSLE, N-Level, and O-Level students.
Role Overview
The position involves teaching the full spectrum of levels, including Primary Math (PSLE track), Secondary Elementary Math, and Additional Mathematics. Tutors must be comfortable guiding young students through heuristic methods and older students through advanced topics such as differentiation and trigonometric identities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct small-group lessons covering both primary and secondary mathematics at the centre's multiple branches.
- Use and progressively enhance the in-house curriculum and accompanying worksheets.
- Mark students' work promptly and provide constructive feedback aligned with examiner expectations for solution presentation.
- Monitor each learner’s progress to identify and address knowledge gaps before examinations.
- Communicate student progress professionally and clearly to parents through official channels.
- Take charge of makeup and substitute classes as necessary, collaborating with the teaching team.
Candidate Requirements
- A degree from a local university.
- Strong academic background in mathematics at A-Level H2 Math or equivalent, with thorough knowledge of the full O-Level Additional Mathematics syllabus.
- Familiarity with the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) syllabus, including PSLE, N-Level, and O-Level exam formats.
- Prior classroom or home tuition teaching experience is advantageous.
- Recent graduates with excellent academic records and a motivated attitude are encouraged to apply; training will be provided.
- Excellent communication skills capable of simplifying complex math concepts for both 10-year-olds and 16-year-olds.
- Dependability, good organizational skills, and effective communication with parents.
- Ability to work weekday afternoons and evenings, as well as weekends, which constitute peak teaching periods. Some lessons occur on selected public holidays.
Compensation and Benefits
- Monthly salary ranging from SGD 4000 to SGD 5000, based on experience.
- Five-day work week consisting of four weekdays and one weekend day.
- Fully developed curriculum and teaching materials at each location with comprehensive onboarding.
- Opportunities for career advancement within the centre, including roles such as senior tutor and head of level.
- Direct interaction with the centre’s founder and the ability to influence operations.
