Math Teacher

Overview

The primary mission of this teaching role is to guarantee that all educators at Durham School for Girls (DSGD) comply with the UK Teaching Standards (TS), while also embracing the school's MARK values and the cultural standards set by the Qatari Ministry of Education (MOE). The teacher will deliver dynamic, high-quality instruction tailored to the diverse student body, fostering a secure, inclusive environment, and supporting both academic success and personal growth. Maintaining professionalism, collaborating with colleagues, and contributing to the school community are essential aspects of this position. The role requires aligning teaching methods, curriculum, and resources with the values of DSGD/MARK and Qatari culture and ethics. Key Duties

• Plan and execute engaging lessons individually or collaboratively, ensuring curriculum aligns with subject standards and assessment objectives.
• Develop lesson plans catering to varying student needs employing diverse instructional techniques and resources that reflect DSGD/MARK and Qatari cultural values.
• Incorporate technology and innovative tools to enhance teaching and encourage active student participation.
• Provide prompt, constructive feedback on student progress and assignments to students and relevant parties.
• Regularly assess learning outcomes to inform teaching adjustments and differentiated instruction, consulting managers or SENCO when necessary.
• Report concerns regarding curriculum or resources that conflict with DSGD or Qatari values immediately to line managers before leaving school premises.
• Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere promoting respect, collaboration, and student responsibility.
• Support individual learner needs through appropriate accommodations and encourage critical thinking and problem-solving via interactive discussions.
• Provide diverse student-led learning and assessment opportunities, linking lessons to real-life applications and future careers.
• Communicate effectively and regularly with students, parents, colleagues, and external stakeholders through various platforms, adhering to deadlines and providing clear progress reports.
• Support student well-being by addressing bullying, discrimination, mental health, and fostering essential life skills like communication and critical thinking.
• Engage in ongoing professional development, educational research, curriculum updates, and self-improvement through feedback and peer review.
• Act as a school ambassador by exemplifying values and professionalism in and out of working hours, and actively participate in school events and extracurricular activities.
• Utilise communication platforms such as email, Class Dojo, iSams, and school portals effectively to interact with stakeholders and share resources.
• Participate enthusiastically in school community life, including assemblies, sports, clubs, competitions, and meetings, completing assigned tasks efficiently.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety policies to guarantee student safety, promptly reporting all concerns as required.
• Implement high-quality teaching, learning and assessment practices encouraging student potential via personalized strategies and clear feedback.
• Promote and integrate the school's MARK values and Qatari national values across all interactions and curriculum content.
• Regularly review and align curriculum offerings with Qatari MOE ethical standards, collaborating with leadership and faculty to ensure compliance and cultural sensitivity.
