Role Overview
The Material Handler at PerkinElmer is responsible for executing both physical and clerical duties associated with shipping, receiving, storage, distribution, and order fulfillment of materials, parts, equipment, and products. This role ensures inventory accuracy by checking incoming goods against purchase orders or invoices and maintains appropriate documentation. The position involves packaging items for shipment, weighing, labeling, and possibly forklift operation. It requires managing inventory control and supporting manufacturing production lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and report any material defects or discrepancies promptly to supervisors.
- Organize materials into assigned storage bins or locations systematically.
- Verify material part numbers and quantities against Goods Receipt (GR) slips to maintain accuracy.
- Update the Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) system as needed to track materials movement and inventory levels.
- Handle packaging and unpacking of instruments during shipping processes, when deployed.
- Pick and pack shipments of varying sizes to fulfill orders efficiently, if assigned.
- Ensure timely kitting and issuance of work orders to production lines before deadlines.
- Perform cycle counts regularly and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Promote a safe and secure environment in shipping and storage areas and report any safety breaches to supervisors.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas following 6S methodology and contribute to generating operational reports.
