Material Engineer

About the Role

Join Parsons Corporation in Doha as a Material Engineer, where you'll thrive in a dynamic atmosphere with a focus on innovation and development. You'll oversee material quality assurance and control processes across large infrastructure projects, ensuring adherence to international standards and project-specific requirements through effective coordination and implementation of QA/QC procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate material submissions for compliance with project specifications and applicable standards.
• Support construction teams in material submittals, approvals, sampling, and testing.
• Manage quality control of materials via laboratory and field testing, ensuring acceptance of materials and effectiveness of corrective measures.
• Inspect construction materials used in sewerage, drainage, pump stations, treatment facilities, roads, and highways.
• Develop and enforce QA/QC plans aligned with international standards and project needs.
• Analyze technical and laboratory reports; implement acceptance sampling and quality control strategies.
• Lead and oversee QA/QC teams including Senior and Works Inspectors, promoting collaboration and high-quality standards.
• Generate detailed technical reports on material testing, quality control, and compliance.
• Engage in all project phases, including design, construction, commissioning, and close-out, focusing on materials and QA/QC aspects.
• Coordinate project close-out procedures with relevant stakeholders ensuring proper documentation and approvals.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university, subject to engineer approval.
• At least 10 years post-graduate experience including a minimum of 5 years in material QA/QC roles on substantial infrastructure projects.
• Extensive quality control experience involving sewerage, drainage, roads, highways, and civil engineering works.
• Expertise in Quality Assurance Specifications, Statistical Quality Control, and materials testing methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of QA/QC international standards with a proven track record implementing them on major projects.
• Proficient in supervising material inspectors and managing material testing operations ensuring compliance with project standards.
• Capable of interpreting complex contracts, plans, specifications, and shop drawings to assess constructability.
• Excellent command of English, both written and verbal, capable of preparing comprehensive technical reports.
• Valid MME (UPDA) registration in Qatar is mandatory.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working in arid environments with familiarity in evaluating materials performance under such conditions.
• Background in urban design and supervision involving premium commercial landscaping and associated civil works.
• Capability in crafting reports and submissions that include conceptual and visual components.
• Advanced skills in Vectorworks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office suite, and modern digital imagery and visualization software.
• Strong coordination abilities for managing interactions with internal teams, contractors, and external authorities during project close-out phases.
