Overview
We are seeking a meticulous Master Data Specialist | Data Management Analyst to ensure high standards for master data accuracy and consistency across our business systems. This role involves master data governance, quality control, process enhancement, and collaboration to maintain reliable operational and analytical data.
Primary Duties
- Oversee master data management across multiple business platforms, databases, and applications.
- Create, validate, update, and safeguard master data records adhering to defined protocols.
- Manage diverse master data categories including customer, supplier, product, material, employee, and financial datasets.
- Assess data requests to confirm compliance with established criteria before implementing changes.
- Conduct activities such as data cleansing, validation, standardization, enrichment, and removal of duplicates.
- Detect and resolve issues with inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, or duplicated master data.
- Formulate and uphold data quality rules, validation checks, and tracking mechanisms.
- Generate regular reports on key data quality indicators for stakeholders.
- Analyze master data frameworks to identify patterns and recommend improvements.
- Support data governance efforts ensuring alignment with organizational standards.
- Maintain documentation including data dictionaries, metadata, business definitions, and reference data.
- Define clear procedures, workflows, controls, and standards for data management operations.
- Collaborate with various business units to clarify data requirements and resolve related challenges.
- Assist IT teams with master data configuration, system integration, and changes.
- Support ERP, CRM, finance, supply chain, procurement, and related enterprise systems reliant on master data.
- Coordinate master data maintenance across systems and departments.
- Evaluate data interdependencies and potential effects of changes.
- Participate in data migration, consolidation, transformation, and system implementation projects.
- Perform data mapping and reconciliation across source and target systems.
- Develop dashboards and reports to monitor data quality, accuracy, and compliance.
- Automate routine data management and validation processes where feasible.
- Conduct root-cause analyses for recurring data issues and recommend preventive measures.
- Implement control and approval workflows for critical or sensitive data updates.
- Track data management request status to ensure service-level compliance.
- Support audit activities by supplying evidence related to data management practices.
- Train end-users on data standards, entry protocols, and quality requirements.
- Handle sensitive data with confidentiality and security.
- Engage in governance meetings and continuous improvement activities.
- Stay updated on emerging data management technologies and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Management, Business Analytics, Statistics, Finance, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience in master data management, data analysis, data governance, or quality assurance.
- Understanding of master data concepts, data life cycles, and governance principles.
- Experienced in managing structured data across ERP, CRM, or similar enterprise systems.
- Knowledge of master data domains including customer, supplier, product, material, financial, and organizational data.
- Proficient in data validation, cleansing, standardization, and reconciliation practices.
- Skilled at identifying and resolving duplicated, incomplete, or inconsistent data.
- Advanced use of Microsoft Excel; familiarity with large datasets.
- Knowledge of SQL and database fundamentals is a plus.
- Experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau is advantageous.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) is preferred.
- Understanding of CRM and enterprise application data structures beneficial.
- Experience in data migration, integration, or system implementation projects preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail capabilities.
- Excellent documentation and communications skills.
- Effective collaboration skills with business and IT teams including Finance, Operations, Procurement, Sales, and Supply Chain.
- Organizational and time-management skills with ability to manage multiple projects.
- Knowledge of data privacy, confidentiality, and information security principles.
- Familiarity with data quality tools and master data management platforms advantageous.
- A proactive attitude towards quality improvement and prevention of data issues.
- Relevant certifications in data management or governance are a plus.
