Marketing Proofreader

About the Role

The Marketing Proofreader will be an integral part of the Digital Marketing team based in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal. This permanent role combines attention to detail with a passion for language, enabling the creation of high-quality content that aligns with client branding and style guidelines. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring error-free copy, fostering client relationships, and upholding inclusivity standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• Proofread various copy to identify and correct errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax, while marking up documents to suggest necessary changes.
• Adhere to and apply client-specific style guides to maintain consistency across all content.
• Identify and rectify deviations from American-English spelling conventions.
• Review periodically updated documents to verify the accuracy of financial facts and statistics.
• Use project management software to monitor project progress and log time spent on tasks; training will be provided, but prior experience is advantageous.
• Maintain strong client relationships to keep projects on schedule.
• Effectively prioritize tasks to meet deadlines for both long-term and urgent assignments.
• Monitor content to ensure inclusivity for all users and recommend alternative language that aligns with client inclusivity policies.

Additional Duties

• Develop accessibility tools, including crafting tooltips for forms and alternative text descriptions for images to assist screen readers.
• Stay informed about current marketing trends to contribute ideas for engaging, relevant client content.
• Understand client briefs thoroughly to create copy that reflects the appropriate tone and complies with brand standards, revising as necessary.
• Collaborate with design teams to produce content assets that are both visually appealing and editorially precise.

Candidate Qualifications and Skills

• Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
• Have 1-2 years of prior proofreading experience.
• Show a keen interest in professional growth and career advancement.
• Be highly organized with the ability to meet tight deadlines efficiently.
• Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail.
• Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Communicate confidently and effectively across a diverse range of users, colleagues, management, and clients with varying technical backgrounds.

Desirable Attributes

• Knowledge of WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standards and best practices.
• Familiarity with copyediting techniques is advantageous.
• Experience working within multicultural teams across multiple time zones would be beneficial.
