Job description

About Halter

Halter is dedicated to empowering farmers and graziers to run highly productive and sustainable operations. Our innovative approach replaces traditional methods with technology, enabling cattle to be guided calmly and efficiently without fences, quad bikes, or dogs. With over a million collars deployed across hundreds of farms, Halter is transforming the grazing industry and making a real difference in the lives of farmers.

Role Overview

As a Mapping Specialist within our Guidance Operations team based near Morrinsville, your primary responsibility will be to maintain and update accurate digital maps of farms. Using drone or satellite imagery, you will map critical infrastructure such as fences, gates, troughs, and cowsheds to ensure our digital farm models precisely represent the physical layout. Your work allows our system to effectively guide cattle by matching real-world conditions.

Farms frequently evolve, with fencing and infrastructure changes requiring continuous updates. You'll process farmer requests made through our in-app chat to adjust maps accordingly, ensuring changes like repositioning or adding fences, troughs, or new structures are accurately reflected. Collaboration with the support team will keep farmers informed, and you may engage directly with them to clarify details.

Your day-to-day duties mainly take place at our R&D farm office in Morrinsville, with occasional visits to our Auckland headquarters to collaborate with support and engineering teams. Closely working with product and guidance engineering will help you make informed decisions when updating digital maps.
