Role Overview

The Manual Spreader is responsible for spreading and cutting fabric lays according to marker instructions. Duties include maintaining daily spreading records, ensuring workspace cleanliness and order, performing preventive equipment maintenance, adhering to safety protocols with proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and cutting fabric manually or using electric handheld cutting tools. The role requires collaboration with supervisors to address orders, processes, or issues as they arise.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow supervisor instructions closely.
• Read and interpret cutting orders accurately.
• Verify the correctness of styles, sizes, and markers before spreading.
• Ensure fabric completeness and verify roll codes and yardage against pick lists.
• Adhere strictly to the daily cutting schedule and prioritize orders accordingly.
• Submit fabric requests when shortages are identified, specifying fabric type and quantity.
• Return completed cutting orders to the cutting plan table.
• Immediately communicate any problems to the supervisor.
• Record status of completed cutting orders.
• Label and return excess materials, including lining, interlining, and shell fabrics, to the warehouse for every manufacturing production order.
• Maintain a tidy and secure workstation and follow all safety guidelines.

Candidate Profile

• Previous experience in manufacturing, preferably within the garment industry, is advantageous.
• Ability to comprehend numbers and measurements effectively.
• Familiarity with apparel construction and principles of mass production.
• Proficient English communication skills.
• Competent at reading markers and spreading fabric to optimize material usage.
• Strong organizational skills, multitasking ability, and capacity to perform under pressure.
• Proactive attitude with a commitment to meeting deadlines consistently.
• Highly detail-oriented with a strong accuracy focus.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
• Understanding of and compliance with workplace safety protocols.
• Skillful use of spreading machines and electric tools such as straight knife cutters.
• Excellent visual acuity for discerning subtle fabric variations (shading differences).
