Job description
Overview
The Managing Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership and ensuring the effective operations related to the delivery of large-scale, billion-dollar civil construction and infrastructure projects. The role includes overseeing business expansion, project execution, financial success, stakeholder interactions, and promoting organizational excellence across a diverse set of complex project portfolios.
Core Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement business strategies aligned with corporate goals to drive growth and profitability.
- Lead all facets of project and operational management with executive oversight.
- Set organizational goals, define performance metrics, and spearhead initiatives to achieve operational excellence.
- Manage multiple mega-scale projects from initiation through completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, quality standards, safety practices, and client expectations.
- Supervise key functions including engineering, construction, commercial, procurement, project controls, HSE, and QA/QC.
- Approve project execution plans, procurement approaches, and resource distribution strategies.
- Take full responsibility for the financial outcomes of projects and business units, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Lead negotiation of significant contractual agreements and enforce strong claims management and risk reduction methods.
- Engage directly with clients, consultants, governmental bodies, investors, and partners to build and sustain executive-level relationships and drive strategic discussions.
- Ensure strict compliance with contracts, legal and regulatory standards, and governance policies while promoting safety, quality, ethical conduct, and accountability.
- Develop and nurture leadership teams, encouraging a culture focused on performance, continuous innovation, and succession planning.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory.
- Advanced degrees such as an MBA, Engineering Management, Construction Management, or related fields are highly desirable.
- A minimum of 20 years’ experience in the construction and contracting industries, including at least 10 years in senior leadership roles.
- Proven track record of managing large, multidisciplinary teams and overseeing organizational complexity.
- Extensive experience delivering major projects across sectors such as mixed-use developments, high-rise towers, hospitality, infrastructure, and island construction/land reclamation.
- Fluency in both written and spoken Arabic and English is essential to effectively represent the organization at executive and commercial levels.
