Job description
About KPMG Qatar
KPMG has operated in Qatar since 1977 and is now one of the largest and most respected professional services firms in the nation. The Qatar office employs over 350 professionals from more than 40 different nationalities, offering a comprehensive range of Audit, Tax, and Advisory services by combining local expertise and global best practices.
Business Unit Overview
As businesses rapidly internationalize and grow in complexity, Tax roles at KPMG present an intellectually stimulating and dynamic career path. Our Tax practice applies deep technical expertise and business insight to support clients in effectively managing their tax liabilities and optimizing planning strategies across various domains including corporate tax, transfer pricing, indirect taxes, and employment taxation.
Role Overview
The selected candidate will provide international tax consulting services to multinational corporations, family businesses, sovereign entities, and regional companies. Responsibilities include advising on cross-border structuring, BEPS 2.0/Global Minimum Tax implications, M&A transactions, and tax governance. Additionally, they will oversee a portfolio of corporate tax compliance assignments. We seek well-rounded professionals with broad tax knowledge, strong business sense, and the capacity to deliver practical and commercially viable advice rather than purely technical solutions.
Primary Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Lead international tax advisory engagements such as cross-border structuring, holding, financing arrangements, reorganizations, and mergers and acquisitions.
- Advise on Pillar Two/Global Minimum Tax, tax treaties, permanent establishment issues, and other pertinent international tax developments.
- Coordinate complex multi-jurisdictional projects involving collaboration with KPMG member firms worldwide.
- Prepare and review detailed technical memoranda, reports, and client presentations.
- Manage a portfolio of corporate tax compliance engagements including reviewing tax returns, provisions, and filings.
- Assist clients in fulfilling ongoing tax compliance requirements and managing interactions with tax authorities.
- Identify compliance-related tax risks and potential planning opportunities.
- Build and maintain trusted client relationships, identifying prospects for additional services and supporting business development efforts.
- Contribute to proposal preparation and participate in client pitches and presentations.
- Mentor and coach junior team members, providing technical and commercial guidance.
- Engage in recruitment, training, and talent development activities within the team.
Qualification and Experience
- 6 to 10 years of relevant experience for Manager level; 10 to 15 years for Senior Manager level.
- Significant experience within a Big Four firm focusing on international tax advisory services.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and lead project teams successfully.
- Experience or familiarity with the Middle East or GCC region is advantageous.
- Deep expertise in international tax issues including BEPS, Pillar Two, and cross-border structuring.
- Solid understanding of corporate income tax compliance and reporting requirements.
- Ability to integrate technical precision with pragmatic business implementation considerations.
- Excellent commercial awareness and a solution-focused approach.
- Strong leadership, relationship management, and communication skills to convey complex tax matters clearly.
- Fluency in English is mandatory; Arabic proficiency is preferred though not required.
- A collaborative team player attitude with a proactive, hands-on approach to supporting the wider practice.
