About the Role
Join Absa Group in Nairobi as a Manager specializing in Transactional Banking and Customer Value Management (CVM). This role is central to driving sustained revenue growth and deepening lifetime value by managing the transactional banking franchise and leading CVM strategies across Retail and Business Banking.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the full transactional banking portfolio including Payments, Branch and FX-related transactions, ensuring profitability and sustainable revenue growth.
- Lead the development and execution of CVM strategies covering customer acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, and monetization to enhance customer lifetime value.
- Utilize customer data and behavior analytics to inform commercial decisions while maintaining regulatory compliance, risk management, and operational resilience.
- Drive the growth of digital transactional services and enhance customer self-service capabilities by collaborating with technology and operations teams to modernize platforms and streamline processes.
- Manage pricing and commercialization strategies to optimize margin protection, competitive positioning, and fee integrity while preventing revenue loss.
- Ensure adherence to central bank prudential standards, AML/CFT, financial crime controls, data protection, and consumer protection regulations.
- Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of commercial discipline, customer focus, and data-driven decision-making.
- Engage with multiple stakeholders including distribution channels, marketing, technology, finance, risk, and compliance to ensure unified delivery of transactional banking and CVM strategies.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related disciplines; an MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is desirable.
- Between 5 and 10 years of experience in transactional banking, payments, or retail/business banking with a proven track record of P&L ownership.
- Strong expertise in customer lifecycle management and analytics-driven growth initiatives.
- Comprehensive knowledge of payments, cash management, and transaction-led foreign exchange.
- Experience navigating risk and regulatory requirements in banking operations.
Skills and Competencies
- Mastery of transactional banking including payments, cash management, digital channels, and FX.
- Advanced Customer Value Management capabilities, including lifecycle design, key value driver management, and ongoing execution frameworks.
- Robust experience with pricing strategy, commercial structuring, and strategic partnership development.
- Data-driven mindset with strong command of analytics to influence decision-making and business performance.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities including commercial acumen, stakeholder engagement, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive transformation in regulated environments.
