Role Overview

We seek a motivated and autonomous Software Engineering Manager to lead and support development within the Turnitin Integrity product suite. This leadership position requires a blend of technical proficiency, project coordination skills, and empathetic people management. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Customer Success, and engineering teams worldwide, balancing multiple priorities and fostering a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and empower engineering teams by setting goals, encouraging accountability, and nurturing a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
• Manage and support globally distributed engineers by providing mentorship, regular feedback, and fostering psychological safety and team well-being.
• Drive technical standards and delivery by partnering with cross-functional teams to align roadmaps, deadlines, and business objectives for timely high-quality product releases.
• Collaborate with Tech Leads for cross-functional technical direction and ensure smooth product lifecycle execution.
• Utilize quality metrics and development analytics to identify performance improvements, driving continuous process enhancements.
• Stay informed of emerging tools and methodologies, advocating for innovations that advance organizational technology and practices.
• Promote open communication, transparency, and alignment with company vision among stakeholders and team members.
• Take ownership of software quality and success, inspiring teams to embrace accountability and pride in their work.
• Build strong relationships across engineering, product, support, and sales to ensure coherent communication and alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven success working with distributed teams across multiple time zones with adaptable work styles.
• Strong hands-on development skills, comfortable with modern software engineering best practices.
• Experience working with JavaScript frameworks and Java in AWS serverless environments.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration capabilities, thriving in global, multi-disciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated project management expertise with the ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
• In-depth knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Prior leadership roles managing multiple teams, including hiring, mentoring, and developing talent.
• Proven track record mentoring peers and individual contributors to achieve high performance.
• Capacity to motivate and positively influence teams towards excellence.
• Experience building scalable front-end and back-end applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to challenges.
• Experience in tech leadership roles within fast-paced, high-technology environments.
