We are seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a focused engineering team within the Prime Video Offers division. This role involves owning vital services and customer experiences determining what Prime Video customers can purchase, rent, or subscribe to, and at what pricing. It uniquely blends hands-on technical leadership, robust execution skills, and people management.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of a significant engineering segment, leading a 2-pizza sized team responsible for critical services and customer interactions within Prime Video’s commerce ecosystem.
• Oversee architecture, project execution, operational excellence, and the overall technical health of assigned systems.
• Lead architectural evolution by steering modernization efforts and making well-informed technical decisions to enhance scalability, reliability, maintainability, and development velocity.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain a top-tier engineering team; foster a culture of ownership, innovation, collaboration, and customer obsession.
• Maintain a high standard of operational excellence, including service reliability and health.
• Implement and supervise mechanisms for availability, latency, monitoring, on-call systems, incident resolution, cost-efficiency, and continuous improvements.
• Translate business and customer needs into prioritized engineering objectives, delivering dependable capabilities globally.
• Collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, engineers, and partner groups to align technical strategies and manage interdependent workflows.
• Balance immediate feature delivery with long-term infrastructure investments, communicating priorities transparently to uphold future growth foundations.
• Influence broader commerce architecture and engineering methodologies by providing team insights for scalable pattern establishment organization-wide.

Basic Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in software engineering.
• Minimum 3 years managing engineering teams.
• Over 8 years leading multi-tier web services design and development.
• Comprehensive understanding of engineering processes throughout the software/hardware/network development lifecycle, including coding standards, code review, version control, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations.
• Proven experience collaborating with product or program management teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong communication skills to engage with users, technical teams, and senior leaders, gathering requirements, articulating software features, technical designs, and product strategies.
• Demonstrated experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and coaching software engineers to enhance their skills and effectiveness in product development.
